Is that similar to the S-type? I'm a bit concerned about when it kicks in to V4 mode how it will sound. Right now I can hear or feel the difference, but enjoy the MPG improvement. My LTZ is my Harley, off shore boat and muscle car replacement so i want it sound good without sounding like a Honda Civic with a huge pipe when it switches from 8 to 4

That's why I wasn't jumping the gun lo on flowmaster. I don't see the point of spending that money to lose power..

I priced muffler back with a single out and a 50 series. They said 350 which seems absolutely ridiculous to me.

This is the only dyno proven results i could find. This test was on a mustang putting out 370 hp to the wheels. Who knows what the difference would be on our trucks. And in this test they used a 50 series flowmaster, If they used a 40 the numbers would have been a lot closer or possibly more but the biggest difference is around 4 horsepower at varying rpm.

So as i said before, Don`t listen to haters because they do not know what they`re talking about. The rumor that flowmaster makes less power over the stock muffler is a joke and obviously thought up by someone that has been sniffing glue for a few decades.

I`m not knocking other brands mentioned here, They`re all good and sound great. I just prefer flowmaster. When i had mine done it`s not a night and day difference, I just know that in the mid to high rpm i felt a difference over stock

Cool thanks for the info. I'm torn I would love the 40 but I have a 3 yr old baby girl who.will use the dvd player non stop when I pick her up for my custody visits and in 280 miles I don't want hwy drone for her in the back. So 50 is the probable route

Just wanting to get everyone's experiences with different brands on there 5.3 I'm looking for low drone in the back but a good sound when it accelerates.. but I don't want to lose power like I have heard from flowmaster. Imco and maybe magna flow are what I'm looking at. I'm a prison guard so I'm broke so any help would be great. I'll be getting an air raid jr or spectre intake in the future aswell Thanks guys

IMCO is out of business, you may find some old stock.

Look at this muffler. I run it in on my Tahoe. It has low resonance, it gets louder but not insanely loud under throttle and it's straight through so it will flow better than any chambered mufflers. It's basically a MagnaFlow knock off, you just don't pay for the name.

5" x 11" Max Flow

As for Flowmaster making less power than stock, it's completely false. While there are other mufflers that flow better than a Flowmaster, they are far from restrictive and should give a decent amount of gains over stock.
