My brake lights arent working

I just realized my brake lights arent working...


my 3rd brake light comes on...but my tail lights arent...what could be the deal??

my tail lights work, the blinkers work..reverse works..just, when I apply the brake..they dont get brighter..

Dealer told me my brake switch went out. Dunno how when the 3rd brake light still came on. But after they replaced it, everything worked.

Did you end up getting the LED tails, or do you still have the stockers? I don't remember.

If you have the stockers, just pull the bulbs and have a look. IIRC the bulbs are 3157s, with two filaments inside - one for the running light and one for the brake. If you haven't noticed in a while, both of the brake filaments could be burnt out. It happened to me once in my old ass bonneville - I saw my 3rd brake light coming on and didn't think anything of it, but both brake lamps were burnt out. Took getting pulled over to realize it.

If you have the LEDs....well...I don't know lol. Maybe you need some current resistors to get the proper signal going to them...

He has the LEDS like mine, has resistors and what not built into the light housing.

You check the fuses, make sure you hooked them up right. IT drove me crazy tryna figure it out so I took mine to the dealer with the stocks on and they fixed it.

not sure but if it's the brake switch was bad wouldnt the third brake light not work??

it was actually just the fuse...heres the kicker though...when I replaced the fuse...my cruise control works again... wtf???


my cruise control stopped working BEFORE I got the LED tails...when I first installed them, the brake lights worked...so that means the cruise control was not working eventhough my brake lights WERE working...I noticed lastnight it wasnt shinning bright on the cars behind me...and it wasnt lighting up the ground any brighter so I went back there to check...and they werent getting any brighter with brakes on...

so the fuse was obviously the problem with the brake lights...how did it fix the issue with the CC though..? oh well..Im not complaining lol...

btw..I found out the issue with my transmission problem as well...so now ALL my issues are fixed!

keep tellen ya man. Power of starbucks works with out even having to go to starbucks. When ever its really acting up a ********** works in a pinch too.

Your criuse is set up so if your brake lights don't work or if you have a brake light out or fused blown it won't work.. Not sure why i guess it lets you know that something is F up!!!! I put led tails in my cruise worked fine and so did the tails i just figured it worked because my mirrors already had factory leds turns in them.

yea, I know why it stops working..its a safety feature...also so your cruise isnt set at night and someone drives up on your ass while your asleep lol...




the point is...my fuse wasnt bad when it stopped working....but everything is fixed now..
