ok guys this will be bit of an odd update, literally the day after the last update on 7-8-24 ( as seen quoted below) dad ended up passing away. so to say things have been a bit out of sorts and alot busy is a severe understatement. and i appreciate the condolences in advance. we had a very good relationship and have had many talks about mortality ect, and we as a family are recovering from everything , but are otherwise doing pretty well. there have been other good things happen and this denali, ugghhhhh...

i will be adding posts below, but they will be a little wonky as i am typing out on a work pc, then editing pics in with my phone after.













he was a mechanic and wrecker service for 30+ years, so we convened a convoy of trucks to lead the procession ( led by the county sheriff that was also a friend ) and and i drove the truck that took him for his last ride. it is our family friend that we have both driven for and was also like a son to him, and he drove dads car. ( pictured at the funeral home the evening prior at the wake)

on with the denali.


got the stupid cooler lines patched to not leak.

she drove it again and........ apparently fixing the lines stressed the old brittle plastic, and... tank leak!!.. right beside the fitting.

so i went cheap and got a cooling line block off. and figured to use the rad i took out of the avalanche when i scrapped it.

Apparently the clutch was also not great on the fan. But got the rad swapped and found a leak right away. Apparently it got bumped and damaged at some point

But also with the block off came out the lines. And those were a pain to get out.

But a new rad later, and back in business ......... Again.

Or so I thought till she was driving and the yolk flops around in the back of the case. So. I had to source a used one. And more on that in a bit.

Very sorry to hear about your father. Hell of a send off!

I am about to do the oil cooler lines on a 2018 Suburban and I have found some research that says to loosen the front diff and let drop down for clearance to snake the block out and in.

It was a bit of a wiggle, and I had cut the front of the lines repairing them , and got them wedged and bent them pulled some more. But I knew I was trashing so didn't care. Everything was covered in oil and such , it took me longest to find the stupid bolt on the front holder, as I could see it.

So, made the Tahoe keep doing work! With the case being bad, had to get it home. More on the Denali in a min.

In other news. We helped our goddaughter get a car her grandmother gave to her hauled to get cleaned up. And it neeeeeeded it. Over $1,000 detail. Then to the mechanic to get brakes, fluids and such. Only 107k Florida car.

And on another very very awesome front, we finally got the rest of everything out of her mom's house. Here I have Dad's pickup loaded with the last of what needed to to got the dump. And we closed on the house!! It is gone and sold!!!!

Yea, that holder/clip on the left front side of engine, holds the lines before they go across the front of engine to attach at radiator, is also easier to access when front diff is dropped.

The videos I saw, about dropping diff, show either leaving bolts in, 2 of them, and dropping that much or pulling both bolts all the way out and dropping the diff further. But then you have to fight the diff weight to reattach/start the bolts.

So, last on the list of updates for now. Is I had spotted a nearly identical twin Denali on marketplace that looked really decent. So, I had to inquire as the price wasn't horrible.


We did a 401k loan to consolidate some high interest debt, as well as the windows and payoffs were a little lower than expected so we ended up with a little extra left over. So we looked harder at the truck that I anticipated.

The only differences I can find. Are bench instead of Capt. And factory nav over standard stereo. And 179k instead of 273k turns out it is a fresh from Florida truck ( we are Michigan) so the roof and some top edges are roached. But no rust. Sooooo. We did a thing!!
