part of the deal. typically lockers are more used of road. A true trac is the most common for the DD trucks. it acts as an open diff. until a wheels slips and then locks up.

As for 4.56 gears and 35" tires, it is a perfect combo. you could get away with a 4.88 for a little more torque too if you want

I should of gone with 488. Both the shop that did the work and 4 wheel parts recommended the detroit locker. True tracks dont last, and if i really wanted to see a difference off road I best go with detroit. I installed my double hoops , gap guards, and grill guard looks mean. I also put glow flame guages.

whaty makes you say the tru tracs do not last? There are no clutches or springs n there. We have even run them at very high speed with no oil in the rear in the race car before and no problems.

You are correct that when it comes to offroad, you can't beat a locker though. no arguements there.

Thats what the mechanic told me. Maybe they dont last when used for off road alot. Even the sales guy at 4 wheel parts didnt recommend it for me either.

I say be happy with your Detroit Locker!! I got one in my Burban and the tire scuffing is mainly when I get on the throttle in a turn, if not, the tires dont really scuff. Nothing beats it off road, especially with a tire in the air. Now if you are constantly accelerating hard in U-turns, or whatnot, then of course you will have more wear. Remember that as long as there is power, both tires are spinning, thats why when you blip the throttle from a standstill while turning, your inside tire will chirp indicating that the locker has locked up.

BTW, you got one badass truck man!!!
