In talking with the wife last week, I have basically decided to mod the crap out of my Yukon as opposed to spending a ton of cash on a new Tahoe or Avalanche. I have alot planned for the Yukon within the next year (maybe 2 if the wife slows me down on the spending, lol). I just got my new Denali projectors and bumper lights, so I figured that I might as well start a progress thread now so I can keep track of the changes.
On the to-do list:
Exterior:
Tint
Denali projectors and new bumper lights to match (done)
Apexcone Raptor 55w HID low beams (purchased but not installed yet)
Paint Grille shell black
Color match front lower valance and bumper
Paint rear chrome or get a Denali rear bumper and color match it
Remove side molding (waiting until spring so I can get it polished at the same time)
Black mesh grille inserts
New wheels and tires (as of yet undecided as to size and type, but the offroad nature of the truck will remain)
TrailReady winch bumper and Warn Winch (if I don't get the bumper and valance painted)
HitchGate tire carrier for relocating the spare from underneath the truck
Defender Roof Rack
Fender Flares
Pull running boards and make some lower profile rock rails with step tubes off the sides
Suspension:
Ford F150 torsion keys (done)
1.5" Rear coil spacers (done, might switch to 2" spacers though)
Bilstein 5100 shocks (done)
Z71 or H2 coil springs for added lift in the rear
Mechanical/Performance:
AEM Brute Force intake (done)
Black Bear Tune (done)
Vette Servo (done)
Built 6.0 LQ4, cammed w/ a TVS 1900 blower
FLT Level 7 4L60E trans
Re-gear to 4.10
Interior:
New carpet and upholstry (probably black)
New audio w/ nav
SS Gauges
Blue LED cluster/HVAC lights
White LED dome/door/interior lighting
I'm sure that there is more that I'm forgetting, and I'm sure that this list will go through several iterations before I'm anywhere close to being done. However, I think the end result will be pretty nice, rather unique, and very capable on or off road. Comments and/or suggestions always welcome.
To start things off, here are the new DEPO headlights and black bumper lights from OptionRacing, installed a couple days ago:
These are black OEM-style denali housings...no halos or any of that ricey crap. I didn't know how the black housings would look since my truck is pewter colored...but I'm actually REALLY pleased with the outcome. As you can see though, I need to get that chome trim pulled off and paint the rest of it...it's old and looks like crap.
I'm also a little miffed that the passenger side bumper lense was improperly sealed, so it's got some condensation in it from the car wash today. I'll have to pull it apart and re-seal it. Oh well, such is life.
HIDs going in next week, stay tuned.
