:Frustrated: didn't drive my yu for 2 days went to turn on
my radio nothing came on checked the bat it was dead so
charged the bat and it got hot. then i took it to autozone
they tried to charge it it wouldn't take it so they gave me a

new one got it back in now when i put the fuse in for the
radio it had to much of a spark like it was powering
head lights then i started checking wires now i didn't hook
the power wire up for the amps so i got my tester and i had

continuity touching hot & ground (what the ::::) so pulled

power wire out from under carpet no nicks /cuts in the
casing. man long story short the radio is draining the bat
if i take the remote wire off going to the amps or the red
acc wire it still has that big spark. now hooking them back
up and take the yellow mem wire off i don't have that big

spark. something is going on. one more thing i have dual
alt set up with all my stereo stuff is on the 2nd alt and batts . head unit kdc-x979

Drained battery. New battery from autozone. Radio fuse keeps popping.
Then I started checking wires. I didn't hook the power wire up for the amps, so i got my tester and i had continuity touching hot & ground.
If I take the remote wire off going to the amps or the red acc wire it still has that big spark. Hooking them back
up and take the yellow mem wire off I don't have that big spark.
I have dual alternators and dual batteries. The stereo is connected to the second battery. Head unit is a kdc-x979.

Wow that was hard to read and translate.

What do you have the amp remote wires hooked to?

If you have continuity on the amps, them you are getting power to the remote wire.

According to my wiring diagram:
Fuse 17 (10 amp) is the radio power wire and it is yellow
Fuse 19 (10 amp) is the radio memory wire and it is orange

the remote wire from the radio triggers a relay that sends 12v to the
amps remote input. the 4 ga power wire was disconected from the
distribution block and at the batt. sorry for the lazy writing. and
yellow is memory /red is power wire.

Which fuse? The radio fuse on the side of the dash or on the back of the kenwood radio?

Some wiring diagrams:

radio side:
memory-yellow
power-red

truck side:
memory-orange
power-yellow

oh!!! i'm not using any of the factoy wires to power the radio .I have dual alts so my system is only wired to the
second alt and the two batts in a (nut shell) i have 2 separate charging sytems going on here. I took the 979
out and put my x769 back in the dash. i'm taking the x979 to the shop to see whats going on with it hope it can be

repaired with out a fortune. i will miss the 5.1 surround
in my truck until it's fixed.

Almost got things back to normal. I paid $65.00 for a kenwwod kac-1502s at pawn
shop they wanted $80.00 I could have gotten a new one for $70.00 on ebay just
didn't want to wait on it. Now I got a amp for my center channel to hook up,the
Face on the radio folds up now like it should I hope my radio dash kit come today
The tab broke off the one in the dash now . IF it don't come in today screw it
I will put my 979 back in.:party33:

Why are you running two diffrent charging systems?
I think your making things harder then they should be, you can run two diffrent alts in the same charging system, unless one of them is runing 16v or higher.

It's not hard to do at all and they are two different alts, and you
don't want to start burning wires with 2 alt charging
the same batteries.l think if you don't have 2 separate charging
Systems it's not worth doing the dual alts.

i still dont really get it, ive seen dual alts charge the same batts just fine and ive heard of 3 or 4 alts charging same batts just fine as well. I mean if you had both alts to the same batts i think you wont have as much of a voltage drop when you have your system on
