I tried loading a back up copy of the latest 6.0 nav dvd today.. I removed my stock dvd, and inserted the back up updated copy, and it proceeded to say "loading software". After about 4 minutes, it stopped loaded and the screen pictured below appeared.. At this point, none of the buttons were responding and every 5 mins it just kept trying to "reload" itself with the same error message appearing. I then disconnected the battery terminal, and waited, then as i reconnected it, the nav just kept on trying to reload with the same screen showing up.. I somehow managed to take the copy dvd out gently with some tweezers and the reloaded the stock oem dvd, and it is doing the same thing. I even tried with no cd and it stays on the same screen as shown below. Right now, i have no back up camera, no radio, no nothing.. The vehicle is a 2008 yukon denali xl.. (All stock) Please help!!! :emotions122:

Is this 'copy' downloaded from a torrent?

---------- Post added at 06:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:42 PM ----------

Btw whether it's downloaded or copied from an oem dvd it really doesn't matter ... I know GM tries to **** us by charging $170+ for a dvd but I just can't comprehend anyone taking a chance on a non oem dvd fubaring a part that costs $2000 to replace just to save a few bucks. I'm sure this is the last thing you want to hear right now but there you are.

I have no idea how to fix this ... it sounds to me like the copy screwed up the original firmware so now it can't operate or read anything. Take it to the dealer and hopefully there's a way to reset it, otherwise this might end up being a very severe karmic lesson.

Oh trust me. i had no clue that a bad copy would or could permantly screw up my system. Had I even known that there was a 1 percent chance of that happening, I would of never tried it. I didn't even need the update that bad..

At this point I have no choice.. I can live without the nagivation, but i can't live without the radio and backup camera.. They charge you $125 just to look at the car, then whatever the repair costs on top of that.. No wonder, most american car companies are bankrupt..

I called the dealer today and he said he should be able to reprogram it, and it may only take about 30 minutes. I am bringing it there tomorrow, I'll let u know the outcome tomorrow night, in case you're curious..

Please update us ... this will make for an excellent reference thread as to what can go wrong with bootlegged nav discs and hopefully how it can be remedied.

Good luck Tony, I'm praying it's an easy fix.

Ok, so much for an "easy fix" that we hoped for.. After about 30 minutes of them trying to reprogram it, they concluded that the system was corrupted beyond repair. They ordered a new one and I will have to go back early next week for them to install it. I searched this board before i ever tried this and haven't heard or seen any warning about the subject of such a thing ever happening, plus I bought the dvd from a member of this board, that seemed very helpful and a good contributer here. I'm pretty sure this wasn;t done to me intentionally, but everyone take heed of this, if you plan to mess with your nav dvd//

Well I realize it's been several years since original post but I am now having the same issue and I have never inserted another disc besides the factory disc in my system so I just wanted to share that because I was thinking maybe a newer disc would fix the problem and I'm not sure where to find one without just burning the copy myself or hitting up a salvage yard in hopes to retrieve one.
