This makes pretty good sense - looks like I'll probably be reselling all of the parts...

Okay I've been subscribed to this thread since it started. Here's my situation. I made a connection with someone down here in South Florida who totaled their '07 LTZ.

For $400 they sold me the Bose Nav/DVD head unit with the Bose Amp, all the Bose speakers and tweeters, Rear radio controls that go in the center console, the backup camera with camera module, and all kinds of wires and other modules in a box.

Can I convert my '07 non-Bose stock radio over?

Yes or No?

I would try what he suggested before he ships it back, look for a Tahoe without Bose but with factory navigation (try eBay?) and use the VIN from that. It sounds familiar, and legit.

If not, resell the navigation only and see if you can find the rare non-Bose nav. Try car-part.com, I always reference it because the parts on there are pretty cheap.

If you have the complete Bose setup then there should be no problem. The only incompatibility that has been noted to date is a NAV unit that depends on Bose going into a NON-Bose vehicle. That is where problems arise with the fixed low volume, no chimes, etc. Feel free to PM me if I may be of assistance.

Great, now I just have to find time to do it.

---------- Post added at 08:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 PM ----------

More questions.

As I mentioned I have the rear radio controls that were given to me. Can I hook them up?

Also, I'm dying to use the rear flip down DVD, but my AC controls are killing that idea. Is it possible to get the center console ac controls to work instead.
I know in the past people have said that it's impossible, or close to it, to change the front ac controls out, but how about the rear controls? are they dependent on the proper front controls? I know I'm going off topic a bit, but I would love to have the whole setup including the rear entertainment setup.

The rear center console AC controls would not work unless you changed your entire system to automatic.

Thanks Zach,

That's what I thought. Opening the Pandora's Box into another project with the AC situation.

I need to find the one guy who actually switched his AC from manual to automatic and see how much time and money went into it. Also see if he made a how to video I could watch. Apparently this mod is one of the rarest around.

One mod leads into another.....

John I am in the process of doing this as well. My sierra doesn't have bose. I have a oem nav unit with bose. I tried to install it and have the dealer reprogram it and it still didnt work. I exchanged it for a non bose w/o the dvd option and it was a no go as well. So I got my bose dvd unit back and actually sent it to a guy in california who claims he can program it to work properly, steering wheel controls, xm, bluetooth, onstar, camera, etc. I just sent it off today. He told me he has a bench tester for the denso units and can program it to your vin. I had to send him my vin and the rpo codes in the glove box. I just sent it today so I should have it back in a week. He also told me that he is able to make any unit work in any vehicle, that this is his business and has spent countless hours with denso to get properly trained to do this and that the techs at the dealership are not trained to do this extensive reprogramming. Sorry for the long post, I will update this as soon as I get it back. Oh yeah he charges 100 bucks plus shipping.

I have an 07 Tahoe LT (Non Bose) I got a Nav DVD Unit from car-part.com, got the VSS wire- could not hook it up to Onstar (could not find unit), I got a GPS Antenna, installed the entire unit, paid $100 to program at dealer. Radio works, but chimes are silent, and sound is super low. I am probably just going to sell package on Ebay and go aftermarket...

Thanks for posting this...sounds encouraging. Please keep me posted. I still have the unit, so this might be something worth trying. How did you find this guy?

This is the problem I was trying to avoid...Was your nav unit bose or non-bose?
