Has anyone had any success with updating their navigation system by any other means other than going through GM for the disk at around $300.00?

Disk from GM for $300?
What are you referring to here?
Are you just wanting a navigation map update?

Looks like that sale price is good until Dec 31, 2022. But I also observed over the last couple years this sale ends and then the next quarter, or after some period of time, the sale is on again. Supply and demand. I would bet a lot more people don't update than do, especially since smartphone navigation works well. At $99.99 it is tempting but I haven't done it yet.

I did the update in my 2018 Escalade which is the same as the gmc or Chevy and I did notice since where I live they recently added new roads and now they was present in the 2022 update. Also the speed limit on the cluster is part of the update software. Before my truck would say 65mph when the highway speed was 60mph and the update corrected it. I paid $150 last march so this is the time to buy the update. The update just came out last month. I am going to wait to next year to do it again. Every two years is when you should do it. I was driving from LA to Houston and one of the highways I was on was missing on the car Nav. I was using my iPhone and I saw it wasn’t showing on the car navigation.

Why? The OEM NAV system is inferior to Google maps or even stand alone Garmin NAVs. I got the letter last week to upgrade mine for $99. Did it last year but never again on mine or wife’s. Apple CarPlay is all I need

I agree Waze is great, but I’m having issues with the phone (iPhone 12) and CarPlay connecting to the infotainment pos. Using an Apple cord but it’s very random whether CarPlay connects or not. Considering trying to find aftermarket replacement. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you using the original Apple cord? I find out those work the best. Some aftermarket cords do not work at all with CarPlay.

Hi Danyi…yes, an original cord. I think the issue is in the USB connectors (or the system is just a POs :)
