Need a Compressor. What brand and where should I get it?

On my 2000 Chevy Tahoe NBS, I have a loud noise coming from under my hood when the A/C is on and the faster i go the louder it gets. Searched the forums here and found where others have had the same issue and it turned out to be the compressor. I was told not to run it any longer because it could damage under components of the A/C system. I need to buy a new compressor quickly. What should I get and how much should I expect to pay. Looked at the local parts store and they ran in the $300 range. Ebay's ran in the high 200s but I did find a AC Delco on Ebay brand new with the current bid at $90 with the clutch.

Either get a Denso or Delphi those are the ones I sell the most and very rairly have one come back.

Thanks! I was thinking I could come out cheaper buying it myself and have a shop install it but no one will give me a price by phone. They want me to bring it in so they can inspect it.

Probably would come out cheaper draining your system, installing it, and letting them fill it back up properly. There was another thread where a guy did that on here a few months ago.

I found a shop that will do the labor if I bring the parts. I was told I needed the following:
Compressor
Accumulator
Orfice Tube
4 Cans of Refrigedent

They quoted me $440 for the labor. I thought that was a little high but I didn't argue. I'm sure they just enter it in the computer and it calculates it. Has anyone used the Tough One compressors? I can save $50 buying one of those. Also has anyone used remanufactured compressors?

Get a shop to discharge your system and do the work yourself then have them evacuate and charge your system get your self a delco unit.
