ok, I am still looking at various engines...whats the difference between a "normal" engine and a "circle track", is the CT specifically for racing?

that's just it, Circle track, race engine for roundy-rounds, high revving race application.

There is a guy here, also a dude on performance trucks ... a circle track engine is meant to be torn down once a race season (a year) so don't get that. Unless of course you LIKE pulling and working on it regularly. LOL

Any tricks to improve a stock 350 crate motor for more tq (without pulling the cam)...like maybe getting a better intake instead of using the old one, I have the stock spider so that was going to be replaced. The price for the stock motor fits by budget ($2200) and leaves me around $1000 for additional parts but I do want the 370 ft lbs of tq low in the rpm band.

Is this for your DD?
I'm asking because I have been inquiering about a new motor (somewhere down the line) and found a forged 355 for $1500, its a short block which is the only set back. You could freshen up your heads and bolt them on along with your manifold and be ready to go.
I'll have to try to find the link/e-mail, its been a while.

yep, my DD. I only tow twice a year for a total of 3,000 miles so I want the extra tq for that but I would like to keep the 18mph highway on the daily driving. The 8mph while towing (highway) sucked.

OK, whats the difference between these 2 motors, one is for 8500 GVW and the other for under 8500 GVW...does the one for the heavier weight have more tq? The lack of specs drives me crazy!
