Led for the fogs should don the trick, the output matches the HID's. Even better.Morimoto Elite Hid kit installed. Wow! it’s day and night difference. I would highly recommend if you are on the fence. The light output matches the DRL’s perfectly. Took me about 1hr to install very easy, most of the time was spent organizing and zip tieing the wires. Now I need to find the right retrofit for the fogs...

I am guessing that to match OEM HID I need like a 4300 or a 5k?

It is so many choices; I'm used fog LED since April 2014 and is the best safe and better option.
