Hey, Im new to the forum here, but I wanted to get some input from ya"ll...PLEASE read and reply, because Id like to get as many opinions as possible....Im looking at buying a 97 2 door Tahoe "SS"...its black, leather, 155K on it....I would be the 3rd owner (did a carfax on it)...Seller was asking $2800 for it, and I was able to talk him down to $2300...heres whats wrong with it

hood has some faint spider webbing on the paint and 2 small little dents
Tires will last till the end of the year, but will def need replacing
AC doesnt blow cold (at this point Im not sure if its compressor or not)
headliner is slightly droopy in 2 spots
driver mirror is broken (no glass and the support behind it is alittle loose)
Front seats either need covers or refurbishing

Im thinking that its a good deal, (been looking for 6 months at 95-99's
) but I wanted to know what YOU the reader would do if you were in my shoes...

Thanks for any advice or input in advance...Its much obliged!

-George

I think it sounds like a good deal, especially if you want something to work on. I bought my 97 a few months ago for $5k. Everything works on it and the guy i bought it from is a mechanic and replaced alot of stuff on the truck totaling $5k, tires, rear main seal altenator, thermostat, starter, belt, plugs, brakes, rotor, manifold gaskets, u joints.....So if you think its a good deal and its below book get it. hope this helped!

BTW my truck booked out at $3400 i still bought it! First 3 pics are as it sits now last pic is how it looked when i bought it.

Assuming most major mechanical aspects were in pretty good shape, I'd go for it. The problems you've listed are definitely easy to address and since they aren't things that absolutely need to be fixed right away, you can fix one thing at a time. Double check to make sure all of your vital components are in good running order before you commit to buying it.

personally i'd keep looking. a/c depending on whats wrong could add up fast. plus the little things will nickel and dime you quickly, to the point that it may have been better to buy one that doesn't need as much work. there are many more 2 doors for sale you just have to be patient. i suggest finding one with lower miles too. good luck with whatever direction you go.
