Hey guys,

I have recently bought a car mount/dock for my truck but the dock needs a car charger/regular charger connected to it. However, I do not want to use a car charger so I want to take a home charger and tap into a direct power source to power my car dock. I plan on putting the dock on the dash right above above the steering wheel and as close to the driver side window as possible. Right by the small vent that is in the driver side dash.

I'm looking for a good power source that would be on the driver side. I am planning to cut off the "Wall Plug" end of the home charger and then splice it into a power source.

Would I need a fusible link in between the power source and the spliced wire? so that the power source will not mess up my phone during charging? positive and negative or just the positive only?

Thanks for the help guys. Mhy truck is a 2010 tahoe LT

The charger was designed to run AC, but if that will not work, I will go buy a DC car charger to splice. Any recommendation on a good power source?

Ac will work you just need a good converter, which will probably cost more than buying a DC charger.

there's a fuse box that you can get to if you open the door and pull off the panel covered by the door. Those are always on.

Ok thanks Steve,

So Im assuming I would have to open the door panels to get to it?

Anyone know a easier spot before I start opening up the door panels?

Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure he's referring to an access panel in the dash that's covered by the door. Directly left of the steering wheel. I'm not by my truck or I'd look.

Hey NJ, I just ordered a car dock for my iphone from Proclip usa.
Here is the link to the mount: https://www.proclipusa.com/?section...lder=false&have_mount=false&p_pageid=1&dtype=

And here is the link to the clip:
https://www.proclipusa.com/?section...29&have_holder=&have_mount=&p_pageid=1&dtype=

This is a clip and mount for a "fixed installation", which is already to go... All you have to do is tap into the fuse box with any "add a circuit" type device.

I have yet to buy the circuit bridge, but once I find one I will post a link... Hope this helps...

Tony
