Hello all, I am new to this forum. I recently purchased a 2001 Black Yukon Denali and it has a flip down monitor that does not appear to work. There are no buttons on it and no remote control. It was hooked up to a VCR that did not work. I dropped it down and it has power but that is it. I posted a few pictures, does anyone have one of these or could you point me in the right direction? Or, should I just rip it out and buy a new one from EBay? Thanks in advance for the help.

if it has power, it has to have an audio signal. You say the VCR doesnt work? You mean, is it a DVD?

So there aren't any numbers or stickers on it anywhere? Nothing on the side that bolts up to the roof? Model or serial numbers of any kind?

I dropped it from the roof and the unit has power coming into the circuit board. Yes it is old and it has a VCR hooked up to it. It was mounted under the seat. It is just a monitor only and it also has a TV tuner wired into it. There are no serial numbers anywhere on the unit, it looks like someone took a monitor and fabricated a mount to fit the overhead console to fit, so I would have to take it out of the console to look further for a serial number, but whoever put it together sealed the monitor to the console. I spent some time looking online and I am sure it is not a factory option, so it might be worth taking it out and just purchasing a new DVD/monitor combo for a few hundred bucks. Thanks for the help.

Before you go buying a new one, do some more testing on it!! Do you see where the RCA cables are hooked up to it? Are there cables hooked up to it? One thing you could do is unhook the cables going to it and hook them up to a house tv, just drag an extension cord from the house for power and if you have a small enough tv, just hook it up to it and see if that works!! If that doesn't work, then leave the house tv hooked up and bring out a DVD or an old VCR from the house, unhook the RCA's from the VCR in the truck and hook up the house one and see if that makes it work!! If that doesn't work, then it might be the RCA cable that is in the truck that is bad!! Give that stuff a try and report back, lets see if we can make your setup work!!

maybe someone with a denali nbs with rear entertainment can chime in? Is this aftermarket or stock? by the looks of the pic it looks pretty stock to me.. if it's not, then they did a damn good job of making it look stock and fitting inside the stock overhead console.

Thanks for the great ideas, I will give them a try and get back to you. I have to travel for a few days, but will give it a go when I get back.

Its not stock, I have RSE and have seen multiple factory RSE vehicles. THis unit looks like it was from Audiovox. THey had a set up just like that they produced in the early 2000's. As far as it goes trying to get another playing source to it, do like Riviera said and try hooking something else up to it. If you dont care, then ditch the thing and just get a larger unit thats all built in from eBay. The newer units are far nicer and more sleek, plus who puts DVD's players under the seat anymore?

My audiovox looks alot like it as well but is different than the one in my denali!! The part that's crazy is that the lights in front of it look exactly like the map lights in my denali so unsure what kind of setup that is!! I wouldn't ditch it until I tested everything first, when I got my truck, someone had gone through all the entertainment stuff and disconnected alot of stuff so it didn't work when I got it, I though it was all broke as well!! Spend some time on it, probably can get it working!
