I was wondering what my options are as far as getting more light output w/o spending a small fortune. I instaled 6K HID in the head lights and cree fog light bulbs. I was upstate this weekend and hit a deer well actually it hit me. I was thinking a bull bar with some 6" round fog lights but I dont think I like the way it will look. I know HID fog lights will help some but I really think its not enough. Not sure if there is room but maybe mouting two 6" fog's behind the grill. IDK.....On my old Navigator I had two mounted behind the billet grill and it was excellent! Had two old school Road Boy lights with upgraded bulbs and it was nuts!

Any suggestions?

Get rid of the HIDs and install Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. HIDs require proper projectors, thus spending a small fortune. Getting bulbs that are designed for your lamp housing provide maximum lighting output.

If you do go the route of HIDs and projectors, the higher the kelvin rating the lower the light output. I recommend dropping down to 4300k or 5000k.

If you just wasn't to add lamps I recommend looking for a brush guard or bull bar that will allow you to mount the lamps properly. However, GM Accessories does have a light kit you might be able to figure out a way to install. It comes with all the necessary hardware to mount, including a switch and plug for the BCM, and instructions and diagrams for installation. The kit was designed to work with the brush guard that is now discontinued and unavailable. The lights are clear lense with a rectangular shape. The only thing I didn't like about them was the lenses are glass, but if you find a way to install them behind the grill it really shouldn't be much of a problem. If you go this route I also recommend swapping the bulbs for Sylvania Silverstar Ultras.

Go big or stay home. If not true 4300k retrofit, oem is the best there is. $950 should be chump change to people driving $60k gas guzzling SUVs. Else you're doing it wrong IMHO.

I'm quite happy with the Spec-D projectors and a 55W 4300K HID kit. They aren't nearly as bad as people say they are. The beams are a bit narrower then I'd like, but the projection and throw are good. And my last 4 cars have had factory HID (CTS-V, Jeep SRT8, 300C SRT8, 540i), and before that I used to do retrofits, so I'm very aware of what the beams should look like.

Let me add that I has every intention of putting E46 projectors in these lights, but truthfully, they don't really need them. Theres not gonna be much difference in throw or cutoff with them, and I don't drive anyplace where the roads aren't lit, so the spread isn't that important.

Will the projectors make that much differance? Many said you lose light with HID's over stock headlights and that is not the case. Its a night and day differance! Awhile back someone gave me some info on the retro's but the shop wasnt local. Are any of the "Ebay projector" head lights any good? I cannot send my two head light assembly's out and wait a week for them to come back so I need to go another route.....
