I know this is an old post, but it is my issue exactly. I have a new BCM and followed the instructions posted by OmarR above. Step 1 - OK. Step 2 - Car starts very briefly and radio come on very briefly then both shut off as expected. Display shows "unknown driver" etc. The "telltail" , what I understand to be the small blinking light at the top left of the radio, blinks ~ once each 2.5 to 3 seconds. I waited 10 minutes, still blinking, 11 minutes still blinking, 15 minuted still blinking. My hope was to get the new BCM in place before taking it to the dealer to get programmed. What have I not understood correctly? My only issue is the "rear access open" message. All other doors actuate/display correctly, the alarm does not go off if it happens when parked, and all the other settings for both sets of keys, radio, etc. stay intact. The problem seems to be temperature related as when it got cooler out, I did not get the "rear access open" message but it returned when it warmed up today. Any and all help will be appreciated. It's not pleasant to have all the lights go on at night on my way to work! I have all the bulbs pulled for now. By the way, I have eliminated the possibility of the rear wiring to be the issue. It all ohms out correctly. I have clipped the black/red lead at the module to eliminate any question. Still have "rear access open".

Don't you have a dome over ride button next to your headlight switch? How come you removed all the bulbs?

Are you sure you have a new bcm? This sounds like my exact problem and I had to refresh the bcm because of it.

With the new BCM installed: (security telltail - Yellow image of car front end with padlock hooked through the left door post)

Step 1 - telltail on
Step 2 - car fires briefly but does not start, display says "unknown driver", tell tail goes out in < 3 seconds.

Am I still missing something? I also tried it after disconecting the battery cables and shorting them together. Same results.

What is the status of your battery? Old? Weak?

I had the same thing happen with a weak battery. I was too lazy (at that precise moment) to get a new battery, so I hooked up my charger during the procedure. Worked perfectly.

Replaced BCM, now new warning message appears

[2003 Yukon XL Denali]

Had similar issues with "rear access open", etc.

Bought replacement BCM on ebay.

Followed reprogramming instructions successfully. I have not taken it to a dealer for reflashing but got the sense that this was unnecessary if I could get the key reprogrammed myself. I have an aftermarket radio so that is not an issue.

No longer seeing the "rear access" message but now there is a message I have not seen before.

The DIC shows "Stability Disabled" and the Traction control disabled lamp stays lit on the dash.

Could this be another defective BCM? Is it related to the programming, etc?

Thanks
Bruce
