I had R1 Concepts cross drilled and slotted rotors with stoptech ceramic pads on my 01 YXL with 24s and 500lbs system. Stopped pretty great for a 7500lbs truck

The great upgrade I went with was getting 07 Tahoe rotors, calipers and, brackets. They'll bolt right up and it's an upsize of an inch of diameter. I got stoptech rotors and pads, the "one click brake upgrade" on amazon (for an 07 fronts only). Then I went to the local parts store and got the calipers and brackets (front only). The rears didn't change. I got Russell stainless lines. The 07 tahoe fronts were also the same as the 05-06 and some previous silverado if it had the single piston rear calipers. If they were dual piston the fronts were the same size. You can also get this stuff from a junkyard but I wanted new stuff and I got the slotted and drilled for mine all the way around.
I saw that if you order from stoptech directly, since they don't have these particular kits on amazon anymore, you can get the "heavy duty truck kits" I guess they are better for stopping if you tow a lot. I'd go for that if you're going to have all that rotational mass to stop. btw if you upsize the front rotors and calipers like I did, 16's will no longer fit if you had to use your spare in an emergency. My 17 inch z71 wheels barely clear but they did so without issue.

I always liked my Hawk brake pads, awesome stopping power with practically no dust.

I`ll second freedom motorsports, I also got the 07 and up calipers and R-1 concepts E line slotted and drilled rotors. You`ll notice the difference and the rotor hats are i believe it`s a zinc coating that still looks great over a year later even in new york state where for every inch of snow that falls they spread an inch of salt.

Drilled and slotted is great for a track car. It's a waste for these vehicles, in fact I'd even go so far to say it's detrimental, more dust and noise, less surface area. Get GOOD blanks and pads and upgrade to the 07 front calipers and rotors.

Yes. He is good X2. ^^^. Hawk will dust allot with drilled slotted rotors. I am running dura stop I believe now from a suggestion by another member and they stop as good as the Hawks without the cold noise.

I bought drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads from Freedom Motorsports in October 2012, and while they work ok, in my opinion they don't work quite as well as the factory components that came on the truck. If I were doing it again, I'd order OEM replacements from Rock Auto, O'Reilly, etc.
