Well guy's I bought a 1999 retired goverment Tahoe with 131,000 on the clock.

It's safe to say it probably never saw synthetic oil... I already put in some Mobile 1 two days ago. a few freinds said they would worry about spinning a main bearing or clogging up the oil pump because of the clensing affect of syn oil.

should I take it out or leave it along?

NOTE: When I changed the oil I must have lost the washer on the oil plug, the next morning had a nice little puddle on driveway. bought a new plug at dealer and when I pulled the plug to swap it out, I spilled some oil which was already getting dark, still translucent but got darker in just 30 miles of driving.

what to do?

I don't think running synthetic is going to harm your vehicle. You should be fine with the mobil1. My truck has had nothing but Mobile1 Synthetic for its entire life. It's got 183k on the clock and it's still going to strong.

As for the quality of the oil after 30 miles. You may just simply have some of the residual old oil mixed in. I can't say for certain, but its likely. When you drain your oil, you often do not get all of the old oil out of there, especially if you changed the oil while the engine was cold. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The new oil cleaned off some of the old gunk in the first hours of circulation. It's normal.

Grimm, this Tahoe has never had syn oil... and now at 133,000 miles it gets some. I was worried that it would be harmfull more that helpfull.

This is what I was thinking, no worries about possibly stopping up the oil pump.

I have great oil pressure and a solid smooth running 5.7 just don't want to F it up.
