Hey Everybody,
I am new here and purchased a 2009 Yukon XL from a local fire department. It had 63,000 miles when I purchased it two weeks ago. Mechanically it was a well taken care of vehicle but inside it was filthy. I don't think the Battalion Chief that drove it ever wiped the inside surfaces down.
I have never owned a vehicle the size of the Yukon before. Instead I have been saddled with a 1997 Honda Civic since 2001 that wouldn't die. For years I have been stuck at the bottom of the mountain on the best ski days and left yearning for traveling the forest service roads during the other seasons. Finally 2020 was the year I struck out and bid on an old fire Yukon. As long as Covid doesn't close down the ski areas I will be on the mountain no matter how much snow we get.
The vehicle has some sort of after market towing package. The tires have thick tread and are all season tires. The only downside of the vehicle is that it has no rear seats. I purchased some from a 2009 Yukon XL Denali but I am having some issues getting them in. It seems that I do not have the mounting hardware that I need. I made a post about the seat issue with photographs under the interiors section.
I am really excited to have a vehicle that will take me and my family to the locations we want to go. I am looking to learn as much as I can about maintaining the vehicle and good upgrades for a family adventure mobile.
I have been driving the Yukon to and from work for the last two weeks and it is running very well. About 600 miles so far.
