Latest update:

Actually had a chance to drive the new truck this weekend (it's my wife's daily). I must say, the added technology is impressive. Adaptive cruise control was most impressive. Also had the front windows tinted and black vinyl overlayed onto the GMC logos.

I hate to say it, but I was disappointed by a couple things, though. First, it has the flutter from the passenger side door exterior trim panels. Second, it has a significant vibration on decel from about 50 mph. Both of these issues have been discussed on the forum. Didn't have a chance to do any highway driving to see if I have the roof vibration issue. I work for GM and I know the Arlington plant is running at maximum capacity. 6 days a week with some volunteer Sunday production. It's sad that an $82k vehicle has any issues, let alone some this significant. I hope my dealer can remedy them quickly.

Next up:

LEDs for the fogs, tag and backup lights should be here this week. Ordered the lowering kit for a 1.5/4" drop from Tony. Not going to have that installed until all the vibration issues are corrected. Think I'm going to keep the 22s and resist urge to go 24s. The 22s aren't terrible and have a full factory warranty. Roads here in the frost belt, always seem to bend a wheel at least once. Detailer is scheduling about 4 weeks out, so that's a ways off. Think I'll have the tail lights tinted before the detail, so they can coat them as well.

Latest: Finally installed the LED backup, license plate and fog lights.

1. License plate lights were simple. 5 minutes. Got 6k from VLEDs. Look really nice.

2. Backup lights were also pretty simple. Just followed the directions in the owner's manual. Also 6k from VLEDs. Also look very good.

3. The frickin' fog lights! I got the 6k XTE P13s from VLEDs. Should have been a simple install, too. Hints for any ready to do this mod: Unhook the wiring harness before you remove the bulbs. Pay attention to the orientation of the larger tab on the bulbs. The larger tab goes at 12 o'clock. My replacement bulbs from VLEDs took a very firm push to seat properly and then a clockwise turn to seat. Took several attempts to work up the nerve to push hard enough to seat the bulbs so I could then rotate them. They're in. They look good. Of course, now the headlights don't match. Not even close. Guess that means a set of replacement bulbs from TRS. Think I'll go 6500k instead of 5500, just so the difference is significant enough to justify the $150.

*GM frame wax comes off pretty easily with dish soap and a scour/sponge pad. Those of you who have done the fog lights know what I'm talking about.

Next up: full detail and total vehicle protection package from Sweet Cars, Fort Wayne, IN on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. They are doing the paint correction and Ceramic Pro9H ceramic coating (4 coats), carpet sealer/protectant, leather treatment and protectant, wheel sealer/protectant, and glass coating (like super RainX).

On deck: 1.5/4" lowering. Have all the parts from Tony, just haven't had time to get in done. Working 84 hours a week doesn't leave much time.

Got the Denali all detailed and ceramic coated by SweetCars, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Very happy with the results. Also had the tail lights tinted. A little darker than I expected, but the LED lights are plenty bright enough to show through.

Went to swap the headlight bulbs to 6500k and was pleasantly surprised by the detailed engine compartment. Didn't even talk about that with the detailer.

Next up is warranty work this week and lowering after that.

Well, that didn't last long. Got rear ended on Wednesday while on my way to the dealer for warranty work. 5 cars involved. Guy in a WRX blasted the back of a stopped Silverado to start the whole thing. I'm guessing he was going 45-50 mph when he hit the brakes. His car and the Silverado will get totalled, I'm guessing. I was the last one to get hit, so damage wasn't too bad. Only bright side: if the truck had been lowered, the damage would have been much worse. The goofy rake from the factory helped and the G6 that hit me submarined under the bumper. Repaint rear bumper cover, replace the hitch cap. About $1200 worth of damage. So much for a clean CarFax. After it's fixed, I guess I'll take it to local dealers (which I have a good relationship with) and try to get a determination of diminished value due to the CarFax. Then take it to the insurance company of the WRX guy and fight it out.

That really sucks. Glad everyone is OK though.
