my highway is in the 20s all depends on the day but i got 21 the other day pulling my 1,100 lb pop up camper at 70 for a 20 mile stretch on smooth black asphalt.. never broke 2,200 rpm..
and my city is averaging around 15.5-17 with ecu remapping.. and i never go above 2,000 rpm. and have no problem keeping up with traffic.. i drive in a manner for max mpg.. and if i put my foot into it fuel economy is non existent.
Everyone gets different mpg.. lots of factors go into this.. the grade of fuel. how clean the fuel system is. road surface. tire balance and resistance. throttle pressure. air temp. and how well the engine has been maintained over the life. Mine has improved based on how i drive,, and the work that i have done to the truck.. also i dont pay for gas so not a huge deal i mainly want overall distance per tank.. my new full length headers and no cats and O2 turned off should yield another couple MPGs.. im shooting for 18 city and 23 highway averages. but those are numbers but i doubt i will get them...
also i have horrid gas milage in the mountains.
my averages are with high test No ethanol on flat smooth black asphalt in charleston, sc at 0' sea level when it was 79* a week ago..
Edit: also my city driving is well... i drive 3 miles @ 45 mph and hit one stop light. so it is not rush hour traffic fuel economy.. i can do a calculation on the next tank i am in heavy traffic and average the 2.. but i only drive 12 miles a day in these conditions to and from work and home for lunch.. so they are probably better numbers than say someone sitting in Atlanta GA traffic or big city traffic..
