thx for your continued display of generosity serge!
the real test is how the headlights hold up over the months and years in rain, snow, sleet, hail, hot summer sun.
my initial impressions are that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. blackflames is now
www.performanceautosolutions.com, fyi. i find these to be of real value for $1060 shipped. turnaround time was a couple of weeks. they were very responsive to my emails and took a phone call or two. the connections are true plug and play with no splicing required like some other headlights. i visually inspected them and i saw no smudges and the shrouds are perfectly aligned side to side as they should be. heard no rattles with the shake test and the chevy tech said they fit just as well as the oem units they replaced.
as a bonus, it looks like the performance guys added this extra detail. in the area where the shroud meets the actual opening there's some type of texture like angel eyes except they're not (whew as i can't stand them!). it gives it a bit of a halo around the projector lens - subtle and keeping it oem discrete.
the lighting spread isn't as good as on my other rigs which come with factory HIDs which is to be expected. the flicker, however, is more intense. i don't want to get on my soap box, but 4300K is the ONLY way to go. the whole attraction to the HID setup is that in up-down movement while vehicle is in motion, the mix of colors from violet to magenta to ice blue to sunlight white is what makes it so alluring. when you go anything above 4300K, you have a constant blue which takes away from the overall visual rainbow effect. it also plainly looks non-oem to the discerning eye. so pls stick to 4300K as it throws out the most lumens and your human eyes work their best at this color temp. /soapbox
bottom-line, i'm very happy with them and i can now say i'm officially done modding my truck.
thanks so much guys! hope this helps somebody in their purchase decision and keeps you from going the ghetto, disgusting pnp route (just my humble opinion).
