Hello all! I have searched through the threads and couldn't find what I was after. . .
I have a 4 door, 98 Thaoe, with electronic 4wheel drive. It's been a while since I've driven it, but always started it and let it run for a little bit. I'm going to be using it as my daily driver pretty soon but it's stuck in 4 wheel drive. . . The lights on the 4wd switches are completely out, so my question is: does this mean the switch is bad? or, is there something else that could be bad (something not sending it a signal)
P.S. I posted this in Tahoeforum.com and a guy by the screen name "KOrny"
referred me to here. He said that forum is pretty much dead.
So, If any of you guys could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Welcome to the forum. usually Its the switch, and its a cheap place to start. So I would Find one on ebay. Dont go to the dealer as they will charge you an arm and a leg for it. So I would search ebay for one.

also have them check the wire headed to the differential, it could be bad as well, other than the switch.
Mine went out on my 96.

cool, thanks for the info! any way to check that wire myself? I'm pretty sure I'd be able to do it myself, but don't really know what to be checking - I haven't torn it apart yet.
