Quick Story:

Finally got around to getting my new R1 rotors put on today on my 2007 Tahoe. The guy at the shop tried to tell me that R1 concepts rotors were not good and would crack on me because they were Chinese rotors. I just let it slide off my back and left the car with them.

Anyways fast forward about 3 hours and the Tahoe is ready to be picked up. I pull out of the lot and as soon as I get half way down the block I depress the peddle and the damn thing won't stop until the peddle is on the floor. Then as the vehicle comes to a complete stop a loud sound is emitted from the brakes. Loud is an understatement.

I called R1 to make sure that the brake peddle problem and loud sounds were not normal. They confirmed that these in fact were not. I called the shop back and they told me they bled the brakes and the pistons were pushed back down. They said come back tomorrow to look at it.

My question to forum members is
1) Is there anything that they could have possibly missed besides putting the front rotors on the rear and the rear rotors on the front?
2) Anyone in Los Angeles have a shop they recommend for a brake job?

I have 26 inch Slides if that matters. The sound the brakes are making now is 10x's worse than the squeaking I had with the OEM rotors.

are the rotors coated at all (black)? If so, this is the noise you heard. its the black coating wearing off.

Secondly, the pedal going to the floor is the signs of a bad brake job. Sounds like they did not bleed them properly. There is probably a ton of air in the lines. Only problem is im not quite sure why there would be air in the lines since the swapping of pads and rotors does not require the brake lines to be removed or there be loss of fluid?

Yup it sounds like a bad brake job. There's this shop in L.A called Santana Tires. Can't find the address but its on Alameda and Santa Ana St. the shop owner is a real good guy I truly recommend them for any brake/suspension job.

Bad brake Job and if they claimed they bled the system an the pedal is hitting the floor it's possible the could have not secured the brake hose correctly an it could have torn or rubbed on the tires an cause the brake fluid to leak leading to no pressure in the lines

Thanks guys. Called the Santana shop and the guy told me the same thing. I don't have the premium R1 rotors so it's not the black coating making the noise. I guess it's just a lesson that yelp ratings are not always reliable.

I would seriously go back to the shop and make them pay for any expenses that u have to go thru to make it right.
It could of turn into a dangerous situation with an inexperienced driver.
