As easier it would seem to get a supercharger and bolt it on my 5.3L, down the road I would regret not getting a bigger engine especially if I have someone giving me $5K for my current 5.3L and using the $5K for a 454 LSX which the one I will be purchasing is $9K. The base output almost doubles that of my 5.3L. I understand I will be probably spending more money on random things that I will need for the LSX to go in perfectly, but in the end I would be happier, So I would rather spend the 4K for a new engine, maybe a 1K or 2K more random stuff than spend 6K for a bolt on supercharger that might not even get me close to the output of a 454.

Nothing wrong with you spending your money on whatever you want to spend your money on. Point people were just trying to make was that gears are the #1 factor in performance whether it be speed or towing. You throw taller gears in a car and your butt dyno will make you think you just added 100 hp

So, how much power is your father's truck producing?

My dad never tested his suburban to see how much power it produced, but he definitely made it to haul stuff, even though he has never towed something, so probably high torque but low hp.

6.0 with L92 heads and a blower will make you rethink that 454.
Cost less and make obscene power.
Want 500ft lbs at 2k? you can have it..
