You buy a new car every year? Leasing might actually be cheaper at that rate.

I put on 40K a year. I use my truck for work and it don't always look the greatest in a years time. This time around I plan on keeping this one. Of course ask me in a year if I still have it.

I plan getting a Camry or something to haul my templates in. I commute from Central New York (Syracuse area) to Pittsburgh or to Rhode Island / Boston often.

If I used a truck that much and it was beat up as you allude to I'd just buy a good used one and beat on it til it dies and do it again when it's done. That way I wouldn't lose as much money in a years time

The Yukon ('10) I just bought is my first used in years. I normally trade them in just after the warranty expiring. Honestly I have not lost much on any of my Silverados. The dealer that I use always has a buyer for my trucks. I use them, but my upkeep is impeccable. This last one I took the hardes hit so far, but that is partial to fuel pricing hurting resale. Still I only lost $5k total. Not bad in my eyes considering it needed tires, potentially brakes and it was new when I bought it and sold it used.
