new member with power steering ?

Hello, new to the forum,tons of good info on here, hope someone can help me out.99 yukon denali, power steering pump shaft broke, I got one from o'reilly parts store with the evo thing on the back of the pump. put every thing together, bled system. everything seems to work well except the pump has a really low whine to it(not noticeable unless you really listen)and the pump gets really hot after just a few minutes, hot enough where you can only touch for maybe a second. Is this a concern, do I need to check anything else. any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

So you replaced entire pump? do you have maker and part numbers of items used? not really sure how hot they should get get before it is a problems. but if you have no problems steering and no loud noise it sounds fine. Is steering effort better or worse then before broken shaft?

This is a Cardone pump part #20-8748v1. The steering is a little easier than before. one of the things that is different, is that while sitting @idle when revving the engine the steering wheel jumps (or moves). Hopefully all is well, just wanting to see if this is normal operation. Thanks again.

Good choice on pump. However the steering wheel should not really jump. Can you described how much it moves, jerks or what ever? If you were to drive and stop straight a few feet will it still do it when you rev the engine?

After driving it a while it seems, the above mentioned issue has went away, so maybe had some air still trapped? I will drive it for a few days and let you know the outcome. Thank you much for your input.
