Was at the dealer today for an oil change and they surprised me with a new recall -

Transfer Case Module Reprogram Update 28770

I had a post here last spring about my ride shifting into 4wd randomly. So maybe this recall deals with that issue?

What are the specs of your ride? I just ran our vin through the recall search and got nothing. I pulled two random vins off the internet for vehicles with 8-speed transmissions to see if that was the link but they didn't show anything either.

We have a 2015i LTZ that of course has the 6-speed, and we had software for the transfer case updated shortly after we took delivery (late 2015) when they put out a service notice. I'm wondering if this new bulletin is essentially an expansion of the previous one (to newer vehicles) or if it is something completely different.

I just had this done when the truck was in for service. It does not show up on the recall information but is listed as Field Action 28770.

For those who have had this bulletin come up, could you please post the specifics on your ride? Trying to narrow down if only certain years, models, engines, transmissions, etc are affected. Thanks.

Back when I built NHTSA's web site this would have been called a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB). If you go to https://www.safercar.gov/ and look up your vehicles it shows a number of types of information including recalls, tsbs (now called dealer communications it looks like), and complaints.

Those of you who've had the work done might find information there you can share to help other folks find it.
