I have a Hifonics BRZ1700.1D. With my electrical ( and mind you I haven't clamped it ) I would imagine that I am getting around 1200-1400 watts RMS @ 1 ohm ( which I am wired too )

I was hoping to find a 2000 used, figured the prices on them would be good seeing as how they are discontinued. I like nice stuff but Im a hell of a shopper, I usually buy used. I got the two subs for 300 total with a box, from a sundown dealer in Iowa, they were his personal subs, got the amp for 150, it was a demo unit from a local audio shop, something they used to test stuff with, mint condition. I bought the headunit from best buy opened item, was around 150 dollar discount by the time I beat the sales manager around a bit lol. All the wire I did get full retail off of KnuKoncepts ebay page though.

Those Brutus amps are dirty and only do about 70% of rated power, on any electrical. So you're 1200 estimate is about right.

Ive heard both ends of the spectrum, seen clamp tests where the brzs are doing rated power, and seen clamp tests where they aren't. I think quality control is the main issue with them. Ill have term lab scores may 24th

BRZ line is CEA certified so it will put out rated power if wired correctly. Their none CEA amps (like most other brands too) are 70% for sure. D class amps are all "dirty" compared to an A/B amp. Hifonics is a "mid-level" brand with price/durability that is hard to match for non-competition systems that can be played all day. Customer service is cool too. Call them with questions. I prefer companies in the USA.

Your set up is sick. Paying below retail is the best. Well done.

CEA rating is a crock of BS. Why you ask? The standard is very vague, it only requires it be at 14.4v (which you likely don't have) on a resistor (which you don't listen to) and can be at any frequency, not full bandwidth. Additionally, there is no measure of acceptable distortion, so they can rate it at 15% distortion @ 1khz on 14.4v for a class D sub amp. No, not all Class D amps are dirty compared to A/B, both can be and are equally as dirty or clean, it depends on the quality of the amp. Sundown amps aren't CEA rated, and do MORE than rated power under real world conditions, not bench conditions. Hifonics is just dirty, it's audible and in some cases burns tinsel leads as a result. Audiopipe is a worse offender though. Hifonics may be in the USA, but all of their products are from China, including the amps.

They're cheap, you get cheap.

Obviously. Anyone who buys Hifonics because they think it is high end is misinformed. Comparing Sundown to Hifonics is not relevant. Different price points. Audio, like everything else, is personal preference. At audio competitions, I've never seen a so-called audiophile or judge be able to listen to a system and tell what brand x,000 watt amp was in the trunk without looking.

Doesn't matter where it's made, still a USA company, which is where the profits go. Volkswagens made in Tennessee are not American cars.

By the way, your truck looks sick. I wish I could hear your system.

Cea only tests at 4 ohm as well... Like I said, theyre cheap, but have proven reliable for me, and I cant find a better bang for the buck amp.
