New shoes, pads, rotors etc

I think the last set I bought were Earl's.

When my last brake job was fone, new rotors, calibers, lines, master cylinder, fixed non existent parking brakes, etc.....he did a lot.

I just don't think I got the best quality for what I needed. Reading all y'all have, I am looking into the rotors and pads first. Suggest a brand? Or do I just tell them to go to the parts shop and get the best they can. I can always order something on line but I worry it won't fit and then there is more time.
