Hi all, haven't posted much but have read a lot on here, spent 5 years with my 2011 Tahoe LT now it has 120K on it, it's been absolutely perfect for all of her miles, minimal repairs, brakes, rotors, wiper blades and oil, about a month ago I popped on a set of Khumo tires, (my Tahoe is all stock) and wow they run nice! I don't plow my driveway here in PA just use the 4wd to get in and out and with the Khumos I went out a couple of times in 2wd and didn't notice.
Can't say I ever had those tires but the guy at the counter had a set on his Silverado and said he likes them, much quieter than the old Goodyears I had on there.
So about the same time I have been lurking on a Chev truck forum as I am thinking about getting a 2016 or newer Silverado (or GMC) 1500 or possibly a 2500. I tow a 25 foot camper that weighs about 5,500 lbs at the most and I want to retire the Tahoe to just Church and groceries and Dates with the trophy wife. etc.
I am leaning towards the 1500 because I really like the Auto 4wd option, it is perfect for the type of terrain I live in going a lot from the country driving to into town etc. Plus they are cheaper and smoother ride.
Anyway, I have to wait a year to get my new truck and have started my research on options etc. and came across the E85 mention about how it increases horsepower, (I don't care ever about gas mileage because I like traveling in the Tahoe and I work many 6 and 7 days so when I'm off I just fill the tank and enjoy). It's fine for people concerned about mileage but I have never cared and never will.
So I read up on E85 and never really thought much about using it, but when someone mentioned more horsepower I was all in LOL, so out of curiosity I ran my tank down to the light coming on and filled with E85. WOW WHAT A FREAKING DIFFERENCE!
The Tahoe has sprung to life like I could never have imagined! It has tons of low end, is super fun to drive now, has much better shifting, and overall more pep.
I honestly can't keep my foot out of it, so I am sure my mileage sucks (again don't care LOL) Just wanted to pass this along, always loved the Tahoe but so much more fun to drive now, before it seems to short shift too much and on these PA hills that can be quite annoying, now the whole driving experience seems perfect! good power and fun ride. If you have been wondering about the flex fuel tag on the back of your Tahoe, maybe it would be worth try E85/
