Im still a noobie here but not to cars, been as ase certified mechanic for the past 3 years and been wrenching for 6. Me and the other half just picked up an 08 ltz tahoe recently. So recently that I havent even got it up on a lift at work lol. So far so good it seems to be a night clean and tight vehicle. Couple questions I have had is on the rear shocks, they have lines going into them. Is this an air shock or part of the stabilitrak system? Also does the vehicle have traction control? It is an ltz package.

Welcome on.
Its part of the air shock and yes all Tahoes have traction control/stabilitrak.

How do you shut off the traction control?

It should be one of the buttons under the air conditioning controls. Press it once to turn off Stabilitrack, then press it again and hold it for 5+ seconds to turn off traction control. It'll say on the display on the dashboard that it's off.

That's actually backwards. If you press the button, it turns off traction control. If you press & hold the button, it turns off traction control, then continue to hold for 5+ seconds, until the "Stabilitrak Off" message shows up in your DIC (Driver Information Center; in the gauge cluster). I went out and tested this in my 2007 Tahoe LTZ 4x4 just a few moments ago. Because I never knew that if you held the button, that it would turn anything else off.
