Hey guys. I'm new to this site, as well as a new owner of a '98 Yukon. I absolutely love the truck. Had an alarming experience today that I thought I'd share and get any feedback, opinions, or recomendations on what happened. I took my Y and got the oil changed today, as well as both differentials and transfer case done today. Everything was great. Came home and took my kids out to get a burger for dinner....still, everything great. On the way home, I noticed that sitting at a red light or stop sign, my oil pressure was at 20 then would get up to 40 while driving. After being home about an hour and a half, I decided to check the oil level to make sure it wasn't too low or too full. Oil level looked good. So out of curiosity I cranked her up and at idle she was now at 40 and would climb to 60 when I increased the rpms. I have had the truck for less than a week, and I do know the oil pressure while driving has been at 60, but honestly didn't notice what it was running at idle. Any thoughts????

That seems fine to me. The oil pressure is variable related to engine speed, thats the point. More pressure at higher rpms to keep the motor properly lubricated. The average numbers for most guys around here are around 20 psi at idle, 40 at cruising speed, and maybe up to 60 on the highway. Also, when it's cold, the pressure will most likely sat spiked between 40 and 60 psi until the oil warms up and thins out.

So bottom line, you're all good my man! Welcome and congrats on the new [to you] truck!
