Heh, down here in south/central Texas we just don't drive on the roads when they freeze...which is never. Sometimes they'll throw out some sand on the overpasses, that's about it.

Nice find man.

You pretty much have to run a second set of rims in the northern part of the US. I know the salt would eat my Mickeys up as MIchigan uses a ton of salt. It rusts vehicles too.

Salt is teh debil. That calcium crap can go to hell. Here in good ol' hippie-central Washington, we use a glycol-based de-icer that prevents snow from sticking to the road and pretty much turns it into a substance that resembles amazing beach sand. Basically, think of used radiator anti-freeze, but non-toxic. Makes a bloody mess of cars, but the roads stay safe, it doesn't rust steel, but is HELL on aluminum. Hence why I run steel wheels year round, less expense and I don't have to hassle with changing out wheels every year.
