Update for Headlight problem

Hey everybody whats up? I just got and 2002 Tahoe 4x4. I'm having a couple of problems but have been unable to locate current advice on what to do about them. For one my headlights aren't coming on when I turn the switch. If I toggle my brights on and off and mess with the switch I can get them to come on, but its really annoying. Is this a common issue? If so, surely someone knows what I need to do. I'll save my other problem for later. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help out!

Dimmer Switch replaced-solved problem of tilting wheel to turn headlights on, no longer flickers while tilting wheel

Headlight switch replaced-no effect, headlights switch still doesn't work to turn lights on or off. They are almost always on.

Well, I've got a new piece of the puzzle that doesn't seem to fit. When I tilt the steering column up or down it also causes the headlights to go on and off. It looks like maybe I've got a wire rubbed raw and grounding out or maybe it's a lose connection on the headlight switch. Has this happened to anybody else? What did you do to fix it? This could take hours trying to figure out myself.

I'd take the lower plastic off the drivers side and trace the headlight wiring. If you don't see anything pinched, loose, or bare, seperate the wires and try moving the wheel again to see if that helps.

Took it all apart but nothing I did seemed to do anything. I did not find anything that looked like it could be a problem. I could jiggle on one harness and sometimes they would go on and off but only afew times. I have noticed now a bit of flickering where the transmission lights light up(P R N D 3 2 1). It's got to be the wiring harness for the headlights which is $250 or the switch itself but I just don't think it's the switch. Is there a way to take my switch out and test it?

Come on guys, I'm dying here! I know someone has had to have had this happen. I appreciate the info about the headlight switch, but I don't think thats what it is. What about the multifunction switch harness? This is in the area that seems to be causing the problems. I'm really trying to avoid the trial and error method of replacing parts until I hit the right one.

Hah! Its atleast half the fun and excitement of owning a tahoe/yukon; waiting for it to get fussy and uncooperative.

Did you pull apart the black plastic steering column cover or just the dash bezel? Steering cover is where I would be most suspicious of a failing connection.
Long shot, loose connection in the ignition switch? Are there any other electrical "quirks"?
