It's all personal preference mixed with experience but you won't catch me with a car payment (if I "have" to have one) that takes up more than 10% of my monthly budget. Otherwise you're paying way too much for a depreciating item.

Anyhoot.....

Nice! Congrats on the purchase. I'm sure you'll love it. My Tahoe got me through Irene. I even used it for electricity when I lost power. It allowed me to keep my phone charged, Craftsman C3 radio batteries recharging, and with the aid of a power converter I was able to keep the fridge cold. All I did so that I didn't have to worry about a dead battery was install a second battery and start the truck up every couple of hours and let out run long enough to recharge the batteries.

Even in Cali it should be no more then a 1000. Maybe you live in Southern Cali, the Bay Area or you purchased at the high around 2005/6 ish.

Do your monthly budget and let me know if you have 800 bucks left over for a car payment. Then tell me it is not high.

AND, ........................ I am reading "just slightly under 875", which is a lot closer ot 900 then to 800.

Shiiiiit, you can't even rent a decent 2BR apartment for $1000 in the MD/DC/VA area.......gotta pay to play! My note on a 4 year loan iis around $800/mnth if I remember correctly. I could pay it off at any time, but since the interest rate is only 2%, I choose not to. I can make FAR more than 2% on that money over the next four years...I promise you that.

Hello all,
lots of great info on this site. Decided to jump into an suv after hurricane Irene totaled my E350. Been doing a lot of shopping around and found a 2012 LT all star edition that I really liked. Dealer gave me an offer of $44,900 which they say is $8 over invoice. Im not too good at the car negotiation thing was wondering what you all think of that price..

Best,
Brian

If you haven't bought yet send me the VIN and I can tell you what kind of deal you are getting, I work at a Chevy Dealership in Fort Worth (I am the Finance Director)
