Whats up guys? Just bought this Certified 2009 Tahoe LT:

Tahoe.jpg

Had been driving a 2002 Z06 for the last 3 years but needed a family vehicle with the wife expecting. Been on Corvette Forum for about 8 years and have learned a lot - so hoping to do the same here. With a baby on the way, I think I'll be holding off on mods for a bit, and unfortunately the Vette will probably win the mod battle most of the time.:)

Thanks Felix!

Funny story to share with you folks. Since I can't really impart any wisdom yet on our trucks, perhaps some entertainment:

So I bought the Tahoe at a dealer in VA. Just took it to a dealer in NJ to have something looked at (figured its under warranty - might as well iron out any kinks while under the CPO). Dealer in NJ calls me and tells me my vehicle is not showing up in the system as certified. So I call the dealer in VA - turns out they admit to forgetting to submit the paper work. So then I remember that after I filled out all the paper work I learned that the Tahoe only had one key and keyfob. So I talk to the dealer manager in VA and tell him how them forgetting to submit the paper work was a bit of an inconvenince since I dropped the vehicle off for service and can't get it serviced. Asked him if for this inconvenience he'd be willing to get me another key/keyfob. He says no - I didn't make enough of a margin on that vehicle to justify that cost. Great customer service!

Well, I call back the dealer in NJ to arrange pick up of my Tahoe and told him the story. He tells me that for a vehicle to be certified they need to provide 2 keys - not 2 key fobs, but at least 2 keys. So I asked him to print that out for me. Think I'll be faxing that to, and talking to the manager in VA tomorrow again. I'll give him second chance to make good or ask him for the contact info for the regional GM rep.

I tried to give him a chance to make good....

Thanks and thanks. If I end up just buying a key/keyfob I won't be that bitter. But the fact that I gave the gm a chance to make good and he just brushed me off, tells me he deserves a little reciprocation.

Pics of the Z - sure thing:

Only good pics I have on my work computer.

Man that is some ****** service but luckily there is a cheap way out. My escalade only came with 1 key/1 keyfob. I bought a GM Esky keyfob and blank GM key on eBay for less than 30 shipped. I go to a GMC dealership and get them to cut the key and program the key and keyfob myself. The guy cut it for free the first time. I ended up losing the key and got my fiance to go back and a different guy charges her $20 to cut it.

I know. Cracks me up. You try and give them a chance to make right, and thats how you get treated. Knowing now that I was suppose to get a second key - I figure its worth another call and maybe a call to the local GM rep. Probably will amount to nothing but, after taking a jab or two, that dealer derserves the same.

Thanks for the advice Felix - I may go that route if they don't make good.

No prob man. Yea I'd definitely try my hardest to get it for free too but if the dealer treats you like that than you know where you AREN'T going for your next vehicle and be sure to let them and their manager know that too. Dealerships survive through good customer relations and satisfaction and they obviously failed for you. If all else fails though at least you know you will only be spending a few bucks to get a secondary set of keys :)

Yeah kind of disheartening. GM turns things around, pulls out of bankruptcy, is building some really nice vehicles, but its clowns like these that are who 99% of buyers will deal with and are basically seen as the face of GM.

Thanks again for the advice. Day 1 on the forum and I already got my first good tip.
