ok so I went ahead and got the new 2012 Yukon XL SLE this past weekend. I was just kind of tired of looking for a program SLT and the ones I had been finding were a little rougher than I had liked. I ended up up getting a fair deal on the SLE and it had everything I wanted except for the leather (obviously) and the powerlift gate. Honestly after driving it home, I think the cloth seats are more comfortable than the leather ones in my Acadia. The powerlift gate would have been nice, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I don't like sunroofs so I'm glad it didn't have one of those anyway. Kind of chinchy but the SLE only has one DVD screen compared to the two with the '12 SLT's I was looking at. Not a big deal I guess. When it was all done I ended up spending less for a new SLE than an SLT with 15-20,000 miles on it. I had $2000 worth of points on my GM card so that helped some and then I got an additional $4000 in rebates along with about $3000 in dealer discount. Plus they gave me $500 more for the Acadia then I had been asking. I think they needed to move it, which was one concern I had for later on down the road. All in all I like driving it and the 3.08 rear end isn't as gutless as I thought it might be. When I put it on the highway @ 65 and it was turning 1500 rpm I was like, this thing is going to downshift on any incline like the Acadia used too. I was pleasantly surprised that it only downshifted to 5th once on a 240mile trip home. Granted I live in Kansas where it is pretty flat, but I can live with that. If I ever tow or drive in hilly terrain I'll just leave it in direct 5th and lock out 6th gear. Keeping the seats clean does concern me. I would like to know from other SLE owners any thoughts on cloth seat maintainance. Anyone ever used scotch gard or similar products with success? Any opnions are appreciated.
