This is my first post but I have a dilemma. I am trading off my Acadia for a Yukon XL or Suburban. With three kids we've outgrown the Acadia and need the room and off-road capability of a larger SUV. We live on a farm and the Acadia is about half worthless off the beaten path. I've narrowed it down to two choices. First is a very clean 2011 suburban z71 with only 9600 miles. It has the factory DVD and second bench seat which are two necessities. The other is a 2012 Yukon SLT with 17,*** miles but more options. It has a sunroof, dual DVD, diamond tricot, and is also in very good shape. The burb is going to be sold at auction, the Yukon xl is at a dealer. I think when it is all said and done there will be maybe $3000 difference between the two. That said, is the '11 overpriced? I prefer the Suburban because of the low miles and the z71 package, but I'm kind of talking myself out of it. My local dealer thinks it will bring $37-38ish at auction based on recently sold ones. I can get the Yukon for $41,500. Seems like these large SUV's around here just bring more money than other areas. I have looked very hard for a month and these seem like the best deals I can find. The reason I really want the z71 is the looks and the fact it is more capable bouncing around in a corn field or pasture. What do you guys think? The suburban sells Wednesday.

OK so I struck out on both the Yukon XL and Suburban. Brought more money that I wanted to fork out. Seems like these large SUV's around here are gaining ground in the price department the lower gas gets. However, I have another line on a new 2012 Yukon XL SLE. It has the factory DVD and convience package, but no powerlift gate and cloth seats. With all the incentives and rebates I could get, this may end up being cheaper to buy than a used '12 SLT with 20K on it. Question, for those with the SLE or LS, do you regret not getting the leather and other bells and whistles? I can probably live with the cloth, but then again I just can't find any leftover '12's with factory DVD that aren't at least $5-6K higher in MSRP. I wonder also how the resale value may be down the line. Probably a lot smaller market of people looking for an SLE. Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated.

Yes you'll regret getting cloth I know I did. Those cloth seats are a lint magnet. And if u live on a farm all that dirt will make it worse. I had to upgrade my seats to leather and fork out another $1100. But much happier with leather.

No doubt I know the cloth seats get dirtier much easier than leather as my pickup has cloth seats. I never thought about possibly getting the seats re-done in leather. But then again, I might as well keep looking for a used SLT if I'm gonna do that. One thing that is frustrating with the Yukon XL's is that it seems like 80% of them are Denali's or high end SLT's. I've searched for a new SLT with the options I want and I have not found ONE within 500 miles of here. If I build one it will take a while to get I'm sure. Heck and aren't the 2014's supposed to be coming out within the next year? I think I should just be patient, but this is frustrating!

Yeah in 2014 they will get redesigned. If it was me I would just wait. You want new so you might as well wait and see if u like the new model. If u don't u might still be able to find a old model new. I hope that makes sense. Lol

Now that you mention that, I will drop in some.
I think the fully loaded SLT are not a good deal. They are normally just a bit lower in price ($1500), or right around the same price as Denalis (which come with almost every necessity/want bare except a sunroof and rear entertainment). The Denalis will also shin better come resale so they are just an all around better deal. The only issue with them is gas because it has a 6.2L and not a 5.3L. But at least you will have far more power, a better transmission, and a stronger rear axle.

Imo just wait on the new ones. Defianatly get z71 4x4 since you live out in the country and have you thought of a tahoe? They are lighter than the burban and shouldnt get stuck offroading unless you get into deep sficky situations

Wait, wait, wait. Of course my vote is to wait till the 2014's come out but if you cannot swing 75K for a new 2014 Denali then my suggestion is still wait and watch the NNBS prices drop 3-5K and scoop up a deal! I just bought a 2007 Denali in June because my truck was on its last leg, trust me another 6-8 months and I will be kicking myself as I watch the prices drop........

A Denali is far from 75k. The 2014 will not be anywhere above $57k starting and it comes pretty much fully loaded.
$75k is Escalade Platinum money....

Not sure I want the new model year that comes out or not. Usually in my experience that has been a bad thing. I know the prices on the NNBS will come down once the 14's arrive, so maybe I should wait to get a deal on a leftover '13? Again I think I just need to be patient. Something will eventually pop up that will fit my needs.
