I have a 2005 Yukon Denali~UM8 and Y91 codes~ The radio was stolen. I have a replacement that came from a 2005 Sierra Denali, part number 15229287. From what I understand my Yukon is a LUX and this radio is from a NON LUX. The dealership wants $100 to clear VIN and set it up but there are no guarantees it will work and they charge me regardless.

Anyone here know if a NON LUX nav radio will work in a LUX vehicle. Can the dealership get it to work? Thanks guys!!

If the radio was from a Sierra Denali, it should have been a lux radio as well.

But aside from that, a Tech 2 programmer can change it from non-lux to lux, assuming the dealer knows how to do it.

There is a guy over at thedieselplace.com that used to reprogram them for members. I don't know if he still does, but try contacting him. Maybe he can at least email you the procedure in case the dealership is clueless.

Non-Lux will NOT work in a Lux and vice-versa. Like Omar said though, if it came out of a Sierra DENALI then it will definitely be Lux, and should work. If not, don't bother.

Thanks guys. Just an update, I had it unlocked, all the options work fine but there is NO SOUND at all. I will call the dealer back and ask him about the tech 2 programming.

That's because the amp communicates with the LUX head-unit a different way. I am not sure the dealer has the capability to reprogram the radio that way, but it won't hurt to ask.
