NNBS Cargo space?

Although not as heartbreaking as I initially thought, even the NNBS trucks don’t beat the cargo space of NBS trucks, which have maximum vertical room, as well as completely flat surface all the way to the back of the front seats.

My 2010 drove me nuts. Hate those lug out 3rd row seats. My 2016 was light years ahead from that standpoint and 3rd row seating was more comfortable due to a deeper floor if I recall correctly.

The 2021’s have about 10-15+ more cuft in cargo than the NBS/NNBS and cargo box width remains ~49”

Im not sure about any of the newer SUV's, I have old stuff. But I'm sure the ones with the 2nd row captains chairs are more comfortable. As far as cargo space I look for as much room as I can get with the 3rd row up and I definitely have more cargo space i my 97 Suburban over my 04 Suburban. Both Subs have 60/40 split 2nd row that fold flat and 3rd row is one piece that you have to remove to get the flat floor. I have have filled them both with the floor flat and there is room but to be honest if have something big i just use my truck or trailer.

Except that, if I'm recalling correctly, you can't fit 4x8 sheets of drywall/plywood in the GMT800 trucks and still close the tailgate, due to the lost space of the folded second row. In the GMT900, you just fold the 2nd and 3rd rows and now you have your "platform" for your sheets. I forgot how many sheets it was, but when I loaded up my 2500 with 5/8" sheets of drywall, I was able to stack it high enough to squat the leaf springs and I figured I was using a good chunk of my 2100-lb payload rating. And you could feel it driving, she was certainly "riding heavy."

At the end of the day, I'll take the slight loss in ultimate cargo volume in exchange for not having to drag that ******* bench out of the truck.

ETA: And because your "platform" is raised off the floor, I can keep all my stuff in my truck (foot locker of gear, boots, stuff, etc) on the floor and still slide in my sheets. In GMT800, I'd have to clear out all my stuff, which including the 75-lb foot locker, was always a PITA).

Agreed. Although it is definitely possible to close the hatch with a stack of 4x8’s in the back of a GMT800 (Burbon or Yukon XL), but true indeed that dragging that third row bench out is a major PITA, especially when in a hurry or out and about where there is nowhere to leave it.

Even though there is an option to fold down and stack on top of the seats in a GMT900, third row is quick-release removable as well, ya?

Yes!

I remember reading a brochure once and GM was touting that through innovative design and packaging (read thinner), the interior volume of the 900s was several inches more in length than the previous generation.

I've hauled plywood in my 2001 Yukon short wheelbase. 3rd row flipped down, 2nd row folded forward, and liftgate down with glass open and plywood sticking out a bit from the glass opening.
