Would the DRL relay cause the lowbeam function to stop completely, or would it just cause the DRLs to malfuntion?

it could cause either or both. it would depend on ,if damaged inside, what reley contact has fried itself enough to not carry current.

Well I went outside to probe some wires, working backwards from the headlamp sockets, and somehow the lowbeam started working on the driver's side. Couldn't get to the passenger's side though. Gotta figure out how to get to that one. Haven't messed with the fogs at all. The lowbeams/drl were probably a loose wire. Dunno. We'll see if they continue to work

on the obs the splice from one power to light wire that splits into two is inside the engine compartment on the backside of radiator support grill around the left headlamp assembly location.

The passenger's side was merely burnt out. Simple fix ftw. Now all lights work

Hate to revive, but someone searching may find it. Almost the same issue, except my DRL's (and high beams) work, my low beams are dead. I seem to have noted that it was initially related to the angle of my tilt wheel, and then it went off permanently. I imagine it's wiring/connection at the Multi-Function? It's driven in the city and I just let the DRL be the lights, albeit dim, but I'd sure enjoy fixing it. Multi-function switches are pricey tho to "experiment".... Not really a common issue?

I did, but I must not have understood the actual operation of the switch, or the wiring diagram in some way, couldn't ascertain the issue. With the DRL I may have read to much into it. Probably not that "complex". Nonetheless, I was reasonably stumped. Time to sit down and study it appropriately. Or, just replace the switch as I'm pretty sure that's the issue......
