Just drop in a stock 350 Vortec engine. It will bolt right up and is all plug and play. There are other options out there, but they are more complicated and complex, so the easiest would just be going back to stock. What's wrong with the engine in it now? And would you be going with a reman'ed long block or a used engine?

I just have a chance to get a cheap tahoe. The car lot it is at states it has an engine knock and needs to be replaced. If replacement is the issue I am planning on putting a stock tahoe engine it but I didnt know what issues I would have if I found a new engine with low miles.

Why not just repair the engine that's in there? A knock is not a death sentence.

While you are in there, you could make some mild improvments, like cam, etc. :)

I just wanted the cheapest easiest swap or fix. Not looking for any performance gains. Just wanted something to haul stuff in and use as my beach car. I proly will get it and look at getting whats wrong fixed if it is cheaper than swapping out the engine. I just not that familar with the domestics and wasnt sure what could be done. Thanks for the suggestions.

You can get a new motor on the cheap. I think a rebuild is your best option and tweak it a bit to bring it to life.
