Not really short sided. I am more inclined to think your friend hit something causing the grille tab to break, but either way he got it repaired. The cost savings can be several thousand depending on how you purchase which would pay for any random repairs plus the possible money recoup from the sale of new take off parts. If the money really isn't an issue then by all means order it how you want.

....a, well everything. Grill was replace on my friends SLT, as it had a clip break.....to say only a wheel needs warranty is a bit short sighted as almost anything can need repair - it's just when you are gambling on.

Warranty on exhaust tips, side molding and a grill?

If that's perceived as gambling then you should stay far far away from Vegas!

Several thousand on the premium package, the whole package cost less than 4 thousand I guess I need to see your numbers and what you're buying and will the Chrome really stick to the wheel for more than 6 months????

Had my truck for 2 years and zero issues with the chrome so I would say yes.

most of the SLTs (with the premium package) we are finding have a MSRP in the upper 60s (and beyond) and although we may end up with one of those, a base SLT with the premium package from the factory stickers for ~$62k...we are also wanting the 2nd row bench seat and seems like most dealers just get a little click crazy when they order these...

the only reason I mentioned warranty on some of the items is that we've had factory molding replaced on two different tahoes under warranty

and yes - since the wheels are the bulk of the cost of the package, figured I'd see what is available out there online (which was the main reason for the original post - to see if anyone has gone through the steps of doing it themselves)

As long as you're comfortable, a molding is likely much cheaper to take a chance on replacing and isn't very hard to do. Many have bought factory wheels and added to the their trucks, not sure what wheels the platinum uses but I am sure you can find a set.

Wow these are some crazy numbers. I did it for much less.

I have a loaded SLT. The only thing it doesn't have is the Denali gauges with heads up display, HID headlights and the larger engine.

Denali grill is $340 on eBay, Aftermarket HID headlights for $130, bought factory chrome body side molding for $75 on eBay (not installed yet), bought fake chrome roof rack cover on eBay for $100 (the quality is not nearly as nice as factory but no one can tell). mine already had factory 22s but I swapped them for black factory ones. Sold my own rims so I only paid $400 for the black rims.

You could get replica Denali 22s for $1000. I sold my factory 22s on Craigslist for $600. I bought black factory 22s for $1000.

Anyway you get the idea. It's possible to do it for much less than what the package cost.

How so? Grabbing a new silverado in the next year, interested in your answer.
Start watching Craigslist and eBay, depending on your area, how far you're willing to drive, negotiating skills, and if you will buy quickly. You should be able to grab a set of 22s with tires for $1-2k.

Yes it seems that most have the second row buckets which I wanted but many like the bench and are harder to find in SLT. Best of luck, you'll end up with a great ride any way you go!!
