August 27 is the date for conversion to 2015i Models

For those of you who haven't had your orders accepted by GM for production (sitting at 1100 status), on August 27, 2014, the orders will automatically convert to the 2015i (improved) version. You should check with your salesman/dealer to see if they can insure that your order stays at this status to make certain that you don't receive the outdated 2015 model.

No lag issue here either. I'm extremely happy with my old stock.

IMO, if you don't need it until December, then you'd be way better off waiting.

No offense intended to anyone, but the folks who have already bought their 6-speed denalis, are the only ones who are saying that 8-speed is not that much better or 8 speed is gonna hunt for gears, or the 6 speed is superior.

If you look at the bigger picture, when push comes to shove, technically the 8 speed is superior to the 6 speed, and most people, at the time of resale, would likely "prefer" the updated / 8 speed model.

Again, this is valid just because you can wait till December. If you HAD to have it today, then meh 6 speed is "maybe" fine... I am pretty much in the same situation as you and I can wait till mid-December. And that only means one thing - that if I am gonna pony up for a denali it better be an 8 speed. I have 8 speed in my BMW-X5 and its very efficient. keeps the engine down. Infact, I wish the 8-speed would spread down to the entire range.

it's a wrong notion that 8 speed hunts for gears. It doesn't. It's smooth. I have had 7 speed in all my MBs (3 in garage) and even in my AMG and I can't wait for MB to update it all to 9 speed (coming end of this year).

A Duramax Yukon would be pretty awesome.

It is. :)

If you cant buy it, build it (or have it built). I did, and its awesome.

GM did not change the body bolt jig for the new model. From what I understand, You can bolt the new body to the 2007-14 3/4 Burb frame, then swap in the Diesel and voila, NNNBS 3/4 ton towing monster. Mine is a 2005 with the awesome 2007 LBZ series Dmax and 6 speed Allison and HD truck rear axle. The truck has so much power now that it actually drives like it should and gets 21 mpg cruising not towing our 35' Travel trailer, 12 mpg towing.

GM made the switch from the 5 speed to the 6 speed in 07-14 models, and I am sure this same discussion was had then. From what I saw on the lots back then, the used 5 speeds did not loose significant resale as compared to the 6 speed, it ultimately came down to condition and mileage.

meh, its okay, I know you really enjoy your 6 speed and feel that higher speeds is the wrong direction. And you can make all the jokes you'd like as regards highr speeds, but having had the 6 speed and then the 8 speed in my X5, its night and day difference.
Is OK with me but really you still compare you x5 small SUV with a Yukon full size SUV is funny,I don't get it.
Don't think is right over in this forum

With all due respect, I very well understand not to compare the X5 to the Denali. If I happened to word my post to mirror that sentiment then that wasn't the intent.

My only point was that there was a massive increase in between the 6 speed and the 8 speed transmission on the X5. And I happen to own a GL450 as well. with a 7 speed and I have never felt the transmission "hunting for gears".

I have the 6-speed. I guess I didn't do enough research to know better. I'm not disappointed in it at all but an 8-speed would be better. I wonder how it affects the fuel economy (it's not in this thread).

I'm also surprised not to hear anything on this thread about the 360-camera since I thought that was supposed to be coming out too.

Yes, I would want both of those features but I got a mid-level Tahoe and I'm not even sure those features would be coming to my model any time soon anyhow.
