If I were to get one, I'd wait for the update as well...

8 speed and hopefully that 360 camera system would be very nice indeed!!!!..Do I regret buying mine....NO.....I still love the truck...Kinda pissed that these "upgrades" came so soon and not on initial release.....but I leased mine...So if it really bothers me, when the lease is up, I get hopefully get into a Escalade Platinum...Heard (rumors) it has a huge sunroof extending back to the second row also !!!! I could get a a slightly used one at that point and not spend at LEAST 95K..

I'm waiting. All these guys saying it doesn't matter are unrealistic or already own the now dated new one and don't want to accept it. It's a huge deal and if I were looking for a used one in 2-3 years I wouldn't consider the older 6speed. Your smoking dope if you disagree. The eight speed transmission will be a huge Performance upgrade over the six And I think it will be very noticeable to the driver.

Quite frankly there have been so many issues with the 2015 I probably wouldn't consider anything less than a 2016 If I were looking for a used one two or three years from now.

This thread just reminds me why I don't "keep up with the joneses" when it comes to vehicles. Always something newer and better the following year

One can joke around and dismiss the updates that are to arrive soon ... fact is, whomever bought one of these 6.2s with a six speed, without wifi, full of model turnover recalls and issues, can expect to suffer when they go to trade in/sell their truck. As bad as it will be for the Denalis it will be much worse for the Escalades.

It'll be like a reverse 09 6.2 Tahoe ... rare in the worst way.

Glad I got a Tahoe then...As no 8 speed on the horizon for me ;-) However, regrets are in the eye of the beholder. To say someone will be disappointed with the early 2015 with the 6 speed is to ignore what they are coming from. Even the early 2015 could have been a huge upgrade from what they had and so is still a good decision.

Also, the purchase could have been forced upon the person due to external circumstances, and to make the person feel bad about their decision to purchase an early 2015 and to not wait until 2015.5 is kinda a dick move.

^What he said.

I definitely just picked up a 2015 knowing that the 15.5 would be a little different. We had been waiting for the 15 for 2 years though and to continue waiting wasn't in the cards.

I honestly have a fear of new transmission releases though and would have wanted to wait until at least 2016 to make sure the 8 speeds were up to *****. So all in all, I am still happy with my purchase and have absolutely NO REGRETS. I guarantee the soccer mom that is looking for a used YD XL with black interior fully loaded will care less if it has an 8 speed or a 6 speed tranny.

I'm coming from an X5 with the sweetest 8-speed you could ask for, so I'm going to wait to get one in the Denali. Do I think it will be near as good as the BMW's? I doubt it. But I'm willing to take the chance that it will be better than the 6-speed, because I can't imagine it would be worse. Even if just one shortcoming of the 6 (fuel economy, lag, gear hunting) is solved by the 8 it would be great, as long as it doesn't end up in the shop constantly because it wasn't properly sorted before being offered to the public.

I don't think anyone here is consciously trying to make anyone feel bad about their early '15s, just trying to voice opinions to justify waiting for the updates.

I still haven't heard anything regarding the foot swipe tailgate sensor on future Denalis -- sure wish they would include it in this round of updates.

This is funny....I just read today that GM has moved up the production of the "Next" generation trucks to 2018 and they will have an aluminum body and a 10-speed transmission. Article said the SUV's will follow 1 year later. So if you wait til 2019 you'll have the 10-speed GM SUV!
