I like that seamless shifting. That's going to be a huge bonus!

The Stingray reviewed with the new 8L90. Exact unit placed in to our vehicles.

So awesome! But, lol, All the early adopters are still going to hate on it anyway just because they have the six speed. I have learned to find the barrage of comments laughable about how it's not going to be any better, it will hunt, or wont affect resale values. Can't wait to take delivery of mine in a couple months or more with the way things have been going

In all honesty a 8 vs 6 is a big deal.... but not as much as people are ranting about.

However with that said. What about the reliability?

Also. This has happened before? When the 2007 nnbs went from a 4 speed to a six speed?

The 6 speeds shift like crappp btw

It always hunts and sucks.

I don't agree with this. I've owned 2 5.3 4 speed transmissions (07 avy ltz, 08 tahoe ltz), 1 5.3 6 speed (11 yukon), and 2 6.2 6 speeds and (07 esky and 09 denali). I've honestly thought all the 6 speeds were WAY better...

Let's be fair and objective.
The reality is this..
Transmission behavior is a program chosen by GM's engine and transmission calibrators, and not a voluntary act by the transmission itself. Hunting, and lazy shifts can be eliminated by programming, which is available through aftermarket tuners.

My wife's 6 speed is absolutely horrible. Hunts, big gaps in shifts, and bad response when flooring the gas pedal. All of which is instantly correctable with a different tune. The problem is that a more aggressive program will result in more jolting in shifts. For my wife, the factory settings are fine, but I couldn't drive it as a daily driver set up that way. My truck shifts hard and crisp, and it like it that way.

The 8 speed allows more aggressive shifting that is less noticeable to grandma and grandpa. It's going to feel much better to everyone.

Why do some of you want to make us early buyers feel bad about our purchase. And I think most of us agree that the 8 will be better. But, my 6 speed will be fine till I replace it in a couple of years when it is mated with the 5.3 and has a little time in production. I have never bought the first of any new automobile, but in this case I did. I also knew the 8 speed was coming. I don't think anyone here gives a flying flip about resale because most will trade it in and get a new one, but all those who want the new body style will be snatching up first production 6 speeds like crazy because it will save them a couple grand on the used market, so, your welcome in advance.

Glad I waited and didnt pull the trigger early on.

You and me both! Whoever jumped out early will never be able to sell their trucks for a decent premium. GM should have never released the new model half cocked!

Mine is a lease anyway.
In a few years, return it and walk away.

In the meantime, enjoying all the looks of having a new toy.
