I've used Auto RX before on a non-GM car (honda) and it helped it a lot.

Italian tune up ftw! I put a can of seafoam in the gas tank and a few oz in the crank case. After driving like a bat outta hell for a week, I gotta say I noticed an overall smoother ride - not that I was rough at 55k miles, but extra smooth after. I then used the aerosol through the intake, and got a small amt of white smoke after the hot soak, but much less than I expected. Seemed the italian tune up did most of the job. I also have used synthetic oil since first change so I guess my engine was pretty clean...
