Ok, before your right some smart answer, hear me out. Traditionally I would always use regular oil and change 3,000 miles. However, on my sophisticated, or so they say, you change the oil when the car tells you. So in my MB, it's anywhere between 10k and 12k as I use synthetic oil.

On the Yuki, I put a quart of Lucas in along with the regular oil. I see that I have a super sophisticated oil life monitor in my truck. Do you go by that? Is it really sophisticated or is it going to come in around 7,500 miles like the old system did that you reset with the gas pedal.

Thanks

I'm sure everyone has their own thoughts and feelings but I don't pay any attention to that monitor and never have. I'd rather be over the top on maintenance rather than be on the verge of negligent. My monitor never gets below 50% before I've changed the oil. At that point is when i'm usually hitting 3k miles anyway.

I ignore what the truck tells me, I use full synthetic and change it every six thousand miles. I know they say you can got 12k but i could never let it go that far.

Everyone has a different degree of sensitivity (or superstition?) about oil-change intervals. I don't believe in doing it every 3,000 miles as in the old days.

I have roughly 6K miles on my rig since the last oil change and the monitor indicates 32% oil life remaining. I figure I'll change by 7,500 miles or so and then reset the monitor...but I won't lose a wink of sleep either way.

i, too, use full synthetic oil and go between 6-7000 miles before i change. i reset my "Trip B" odometer at the oil change so at the push of a button i can tell how many miles i have on the oil.
